Get Set For The All-Ireland Club Sevens At Dubarry Park

Dubarry Park in Athlone will play host to the second IRFU All-Ireland Club Sevens Championships this Saturday with eighteen clubs vying for the Men’s and Women’s titles.

In the men’s tournament defending champions Dublin University are in a tough group with Old Wesley, the runners-up in Leinster, Munster champions Shannon, host club Buccaneers and Ulster champions Malone.

Leinster champions Clontarf are drawn alongside Old Crescent, who lost to Shannon in the Munster final, Garryowen, Blackrock College and City of Derry.

In the Women’s tournament reigning champions UL Bohemians will be without a number of their usual squad who are in training with the Ireland Women’s squad ahead of travelling to the Amsterdam 7s.

UL Bohs are in the Division 1 pool with St. Mary’s College, Blackrock College and Old Belvedere.

The Division 2 pool in the Women’s tournament sees Buccanerres, Sligo and Tralee all competing for honours.

The action kicks off at midday at Dubarry Park with the Women’s finals set for 5.40pm and the Men’s final getting underway at 6.40pm.

All told, it should be a packed afternoon of club Sevens action on and off the pitch.
