Wallace, Kidney And O’Kelly To Attend Sports Medicine Conference

Ireland head coach Declan Kidney, Munster and Ireland flanker David Wallace and former Leinster and Ireland lock Malcolm O’Kelly will take part in the upcoming IRFU Sports Medicine Conference (May 17-19) at the Aviva Stadium.

Former Leinster and Ireland lock Malcolm O’Kelly, who is now working in medical sales, will have a Q&A session with medics on Thursday, May 17 as part of the ‘Exercise Promotion: Return to Work, Return to Play’ satellite event, where he will give an insight on exercise promotion from a player’s perspective.

David Wallace, who has recently announced his retirement from the game, will sit with Ireland head coach Declan Kidney, international referee Alain Rolland, IRB Chief Medical Officer Dr. Martin Raftery and RFU representative Dr. John Brooks as part of an expert forum on ‘Injury Prevention’ on Friday, May 18 at the IRFU Sports Medicine Conference.

Also attending the conference will be representatives from IRUPA, the Irish Sports Council and the IRFU Charitable Trust. There are also 18 poster presentations on the day along with the main speakers and sponsor exhibition.

Early bird registration closes today (Wednesday, May 9) with places still available. Note: the same rates will still apply for undergraduate (50 euro) and postgraduate students (100 euro).

There are a small number of places available for the satellite events, including Exercise Promotion: Return to Work, Return to Play (May 17), Tim Gabbett (May 17) and Tim Hewett (May 19).
