IRFU And Munster Fitness Seminar

The IRFU and Munster Rugby are delighted to announce that the third annual fitness seminar will be held in Charleville on Wednesday, March 7

This seminar is aimed at rugby coaches working at all levels and is open to coaches from all sports. The IRFU Munster Fitness Seminar will be held in the Charleville Park Hotel.

Last year’s seminar was very successful and was attended by over 100 coaches. This year more presenters and different topics have been added to the line-up.

The topics that will be covered are as follows:

Topic 1 – Free strength: Essential tips on improving athletic performance outside of the gym
Presenter: Joe McGinley (Munster Rugby NTP fitness coach)

Topic 2 – How to assess and develop movement skills in our players
Presenter: Des Ryan (IRFU fitness education manager)

Topic 3 – Periodisation for rugby
Presenter: Fergal O’Callaghan (Munster Rugby Academy and NTP fitness coach)

The seminar will be both theory and practical based using some of the young players from Munster Rugby as subjects and anyone who is willing to give it a go.

The seminar will be of great use to coaches who would like to know what is the most appropriate and practical method to develop their players.

The seminar is also ideal for coaches who would like to introduce something new and challenging to their training. The seminar is open to any coaches especially from Munster and the sounding area.

Similar seminars will be run in the Connacht, Leinster and Ulster areas. Information on these seminars and other courses during the year will be found on www.irishrugby.ie and provincial websites as soon as details are available.

Seminar starts at 7.30pm to 9.30pm

Venue: Charleville Park Hotel

Cost: 10 euro

Registration: Places are limited and coaches must register with Niamh Nash to reserve a place.
