Ireland Under-18 Schools Squad Announced

An Ireland Under-18 Schools squad has been selected for a training camp which will be held in Dublin from Wednesday, December 28 to Friday, December 30.

The squad will be under the direction of head coach Terry McMaster and assistant coaches Kenny Hooks and Paul Barr.

The three-day camp will culminate with a competitive game against the Ireland Under-18 Clubs squad at Wanderers FC on Friday, December 30 (kick-off 12.30pm). The U-18 Clubs squad will be announced in the coming days.

Both squad selections are the product of the National Talent Screening Camp that took place at Clongowes Wood College in October, which forms part of the IRFU’s Elite Player Development Pathway.

IRFU High Performance Manager Allen Clarke feels the camp and upcoming game are important for both squads in their development this season.

“It is a further opportunity for the coaches to work with their respective squads in developing collective understanding, unit and individual skills, all of which will be benchmarked through the game on December 30,” he said.

“After that, players will be monitored and supported in their schools and clubs leading into the international campaigns in March and April for both teams.”
