RaboDirect PRO12: Round 6 Preview

Round 6 of the RaboDirect PRO12 kicks off on Friday night with games in Belfast, Llanelli and Glasgow, and an interprovincial derby and a top of the table clash will command the attention on Saturday.

Glasgow Warriors, who so far have had a great start to their season winning two away games, are back on home soil to face the Newport Gwent Dragons who have recorded one win and one draw in their last three trips to Firhill Stadium.

Elsewhere on Friday, the Scarlets will be hoping to stop a run of four defeats that has seen them drop dramatically from third in the table after the first round, to now sitting in eleventh spot.

Edinburgh have already tasted victory on the road in Italy this season, but have not won at Parc y Scarlets since December 2009.

Also on Friday Benetton Treviso will be looking for to secure three wins in-a-row for the first time in the league, but may find Ravenhill an intimidating place to go with such ambitions, especially given that Ulster have won their last nine home matches in all competitions.

The remaining three games are played on Saturday, the Cardiff Blues, who dropped from top of the table after round 2 to sixth spot, travel to Italy to face Aironi.

The Italians are growing in confidence having won their last game at Stadio Zaffanella, and are now bidding for their first ever back-to-back home wins.

Saturday also sees third play fourth when Leinster host Connacht in an eagerly-awaited interprovincial derby t the RDS.

Four of the top five places in the table are currently taken by the Irish provinces, Leinster rising spectacularly from bottom to third over the first five rounds.

With both teams sitting on 14 points, Connacht will have to improve on their away record if they are to overtake their hosts in the standings.

The round wraps up with the Ospreys, the only remaining team with a 100% record, travelling to face to reigning champions Munster at Thomond Park, a ground where the Welshmen were the last visiting side to claim a victory back in April 2010.
