Crowley Appointed Ireland Women’s Team Manager

Gemma Crowley has been appointed as the new team manager of the Ireland Women’s squad. The former Ballincollig and Munster player takes over from Rachel Reid who finished her term as as manager at the end of last season.

Gemma Crowley worked with the Munster Branch in coaching and development roles and was a Women’s Rugby Development officer for three years.

Crowley’s playing career started with Ballincollig in 2004 and she went on to win two Women’s All-Ireland medals with the club and captained the side in the 2009/10 season. She also won three interprovincial titles with the Munster Women.

Her coaching and management experience has seen her combine playing and managing roles at Ballincollig. In addition she coached the Munster Under-18 Girls for two seasons and managed the Munster Under-19 Girls in the 2010/11 season.

She has also represented Cork and Munster at age grade levels in hockey and soccer.

Crowley joins Philip Doyle’s backroom team this season as the Ireland Women’s squad seeks to build on last season’s successful transition which saw a number of senior players retire and a clutch of new faces come into the side.
