Tag Season Ends In Style At Ventry Beach

Tag Season Ends In Style At Ventry Beach

Last Saturday saw the actual finale of the Tag rugby season with IRFU Tag taking to Ventry Beach in Dingle, County Kerry.

Regardless of the weather forecasts during the preceding week, sunblock and eskies were the order of the day. This was the first time that IRFU Tag came to this fine Blue Flag beach on the Kerry coast and quite the debut it turned out to be!

Four trophies were played for amongst the four groups of teams. In final of the Spoon competition, Sheep Taggers defeated Rugbai Chorca Dhuibhne to win the trophy.

The Bowl was won by Scolairi One who beat Islandbridge Flamers. Thus followed the Plate, contested by Golden Jackets and the RCD All Stars, with Golden Jackets emerging as the victors.

Everyone watching the Cup Final was entertained as Try or Die went with Crockets into extra-time and won with a golden-try.

Following the day on the strand, teams headed to Paidi O’Se’s famous pub (see www.paidiose.com) for the type of night’s entertainment that Dingle and the region is so well known for.

Congratulations to all who took part and many, many thanks to all who participated, organised and supported a truly great event.

Already Peter McMahon of the Sheep Taggers team has sent in some snaps from the day.
