‘Try Tag For Free’ At Sligo RFC

‘Try Tag For Free’ At Sligo RFC

There will be a ‘Try Tag for Free’ evening at Sligo RFC on Thursday, April 7, starting at 7pm. The evening is aimed at those who are newcomers to Tag rugby, however, all Tag players are most welcome.

If you would like to play Tag rugby this year and get onto a team, the Tag committee would like to encourage everybody to come out and join in on the fun or alternatively email Sligo’s Tag committee at sligotag@gmail.com.

IRFU Tag is commencing at Sligo Rugby Club on May 5 and it will be running for 11 weeks. In 2010, there were 30 teams competing and this year numbers will again increase.

The entrance fee for a team has been reduced this year to €;475. Organisers are asking captains to register their team on www.irishrugby.ie as soon as possible as places are extremely limited.

The Sligo Tag committee have been busy planning the entertainment events, with lots of things organised.

The ever trendy table quiz and fancy dress are returning, with the very popular school sports days games making a comeback also.

Last year we had a special prize for two lucky taggers, otherwise known as Mr & Miss Tag. The Tag Committee will be looking out for two lucky winners of this prize from day one, so those taggers who are having fun could be crowned Mr. & Miss Tag 2011!

The Sligo Tag committee have been working together for two years. For this third year, they have increased the committee members, who include Niall Draper, Avril McManus, Emer Benson, Marian Rolf, Cliona O’Kelly and our newest member is Leona Moran who is not only a Tag player but also a member of the new Sligo RFC Women’s team.

A captains/referees meeting will take place before the games begin on Wednesday, April 20 at 7pm. This will be an opportunity to run over the rules and entertainment with all teams, and it also gives the captains a chance to talk to the organisers.

As like last year, it has been decided to run the finals night on Friday, July 15. This proved a popular choice in both 2009 and 2010 and as they say, if it isn’t broke don’t fix it!

For more information or questions about Tag rugby in Sligo or how to join a team, you can email sligotag@gmail.com or go to the Sligo Rugby Club website, www.sligorfc.ie.

You can register your team online HERE. Best not leave it too late as this venue will be full very soon!
