Participating teams were nominated by their respective branches.

The format for the day is based on the IRFU policy of participation, Stage 1 of the IRFU Long Term Player Development (LTPD) programme and IRFU Festival Guidelines.

IRFU national age grade manager Hendrik Kruger said: “We are really looking forward to this Aviva Rugby Festival as it is the first time we will have a mixture of representatives from clubs and schools including boy and girls.

“Mini rugby is a wonderful way to introduce young players to the game and the festival brings together players and coaches from so many different clubs.

“The spirit and ethos of the game are a big part of the day with participation, fun and healthy activity playing a big role in our guidelines.”
