IRFU Fitness Seminar: Leinster

The IRFU and Leinster Rugby are delighted to announce that the second annual fitness seminar will be held at St. Mary’s College RFC on Wednesday, March 30.

This workshop will be aimed at rugby coaches working at all levels but is open to coaches from all sports. The seminar will be held in the main function room at St. Mary’s College RFC.

Last year’s seminar was very successful and was attended by over 70 coaches. This year more presenters and different topics have been added to the line-up. The topics that will be covered are as follows:

Topic 1 – ‘How to develop speed in our players
Presenter: Des Ryan (IRFU fitness education manager)

Topic 2 – ‘Introducing Olympic lifting as a training tool’
Presenter: Sami Dowling (Leinster Rugby NTP fitness coach)

Topic 3 – Leinster Rugby Academy, ‘Strategies used to physically develop rugby union players
Presenter: Tom Turner (Leinster Rugby Academy fitness coach)

The seminar will be of great use to coaches who would like to know what is the most appropriate and practical method to develop their players.

Also, the seminar is ideal for coaches who would like to introduce something new and challenging to their training.

The seminar is open to any coaches, especially those from Leinster and the surrounding area. Similar workshops have been run and will be run in the Connacht, Leinster and Ulster areas.

Information on these workshops and others during the year will be found on www.irishrugby.ie as soon as details are available.

The details for the upcoming Leinster workshop are as follows:

Date – Wednesday, March 30

Time – 7.30pm to 9.30pm

Venue – St. Mary’s College RFC, Templeville Road

Cost – 10 euro

Registration – Places are limited and coaches should register by Wednesday, March 23 to ensure their place on the seminar. Please email: caroline.keane@leinsterrugby.ie to register. Once registered, coaches will receive information and a timetable one week before the course.
