‘Friday Night Lights’ Returns To Thomond Park

‘Friday Night Lights’ Returns To Thomond Park

‘Friday Night Lights’ returns in the All-Ireland League this weekend as Thomond Park is set to host the Limerick derby showdown between Shannon and Young Munster. There are strong indications in Munster that Paul O’Connell could be donning his old club jersey as he makes his comeback from a long spell on the sidelines.

The ‘Friday Night Lights’ initiative has proven hugely popular so far this season with a number of high profile local derbies in Dublin and Limerick drawing big crowds to the games played under floodlights.

This Friday night, Shannon will host their local rivals Young Munster at Thomond Park and the brave and faithful are expected in large numbers.

Munster Rugby will confirm later this week if Ireland lock Paul O’Connell will be fit to make his much-anticipated return for Young Munster as they aim to take advantage of Shannon’s poor form and boost their current standing in All-Ireland League Division 1A.

Other Munster and Ireland stars have featured in the All-Ireland League in recent seasons, with the likes of Marcus Horan and Jerry Flannery both lining out for Shannon as they made their way back from injury, while a number of rising young stars in all four provinces regular feature on the teamsheets in the league.

Shannon are struggling to find their form this season and lie bottom of the Division 1A table with one win in six games, but this is Thomond Park and this is local rivalry so all bets are off.

Get your fix of club rugby this weekend at a venue near you, but if you are in Limerick on Friday night then get down to Thomond Park for what could be a star-studded encounter.

Kick-off is at 7.30pm and all are welcome.
