DLSP Prepare For London Irish Friendly

De La Salle Palmerston are delighted to announce a prestigious fixture against London Irish at Kirwan Park on Wednesday, August 18 (kick-off 7.30pm).

Mike Catt and Toby Booth will both be in attendance, as they bring a strong squad to Kirwan Park, for the second match of their pre-season tour.

This is the only time that London Irish will play in Ireland this season, before their Heineken Cup Pool 3 trip to Munster in January.

There are many connections between De La Salle Palmerston and London Irish – most notably former DLSP first team captain Paddy Byrne, who played for London Irish RFC’s first team for nearly 10 seasons.

Also, current DLSP junior players Dave Owens and Ultan Waldron have lined out for Irish at Sunbury.

The DLSP Youth Section also have a unique and coveted long term friendship with London Irish at Under-12 level since 1985, when the first group of Under-12s travelled to London for their U-12 mini festival.

In Sunbury, at this year’s festival, the DLSP U-12s won the Bowl competition.

Every year since 1985, London Irish have also visited Kirwan Park to play DLSP sides at different age groups. Last season, this unique relationship between both clubs celebrated its 25th anniversary.

De La Salle Palmerston would like to advise that entry to next Wednesday’s friendly game is FREE OF CHARGE, and all members, friends, locals and members of other rugby clubs are invited to attend what promises to be a great occassion.
