Week Nine of Bud Light Tag at Sligo RFC

With 9 weeks completed, the finals approach at Sligo RFC a Bud Light Tag venue which exemplifies everything a good Tag Rugby venue should entail.

Week 9 down and with only two more weeks left the games are really hotting up!   The Supermodels took on the Legal Eagles at the 6.30 time slot, although the legal eagles had Simon Galvin on the pitch they could only manage one male try giving them one score against the Super Models who managed to get one female try and three male tries, the final score in this game was The Super Models led by Declan Kerr ,6 to the Legal Eagles capainted by Paul Ivers,  1.   Another game played at the 6.30 time slot was the Monvestites via Good4U, thanks to the brilliant ref Aaron Loftus who arrived just in the nick of time to officiate, the game got to go ahead.   The Good4U team had an impressive game against the Monvestities who were without Cliona O Kelly this week, the game was a tough 40mins for each team, the end score being Monvestites – 11 to Good4U- 5.

The next round of games kicked off at the usual time of 7.15pm.   The Drugrunners on pitch 3 had a seriously impressive win against the Helly Comets team, the Drugrunners got a remarkable 30 points while the Hellys Comets team managed to get one male try passed the Drugrunners team.  The final score in this game was Drugrunners 30 to Hellys Comets 1.  Another game during this round was the Thunderstruckers versus the Tagtastic team.   The tagtastic team had a good combination between Matt Hunt, Enda Watters and Adam Rippon , while the Thunderstruckers have David Armstrong, Lesie Culkin  and Michelle Igoe on their side.  This game was even at one stage of the game but the Thunderstruckers managed to squeeze past the tagtastic team for one last female try to win the game.  

The 8.00pm games had another four set of games, with Fairly Lively versus the Lemon Party, it was a family affair as these teams have family members on either sides and also sometimes train together.   It was a battle to the end with the Fairly Lively team members losing at half time, a team talk got spirits back on track for the second half and the Lively bunch got the win with the help of 2 female trys by Geraldine Kilcoyne to end the game 8 to 7 to Fairly Lively.      The Angry Beavers were up against the misfits team.  The result in this game was a surprising 14 – 7 to the Angry Beavers, this team entered the tag rugby competition as newcomers, and they really have excelled in the game.

Guten Tagand Beached Az took to the pitch at 8.45pm.   The game was an axious one for both teams as they both have strong sides.  Unfotunataley for the Guten Tag team led by Trevor Sweeney, they had a very tough game against Jordan Farringtons Beached Az. The end result in this game was Beached Az 24 to Guten Tag, 4.   Samson United were playing Boots N All on pitch two, it was a close game for the full 40 minutes.    Cathal Culhane together with Helen Roarty and John Kane motivated the Boots N All team to take the win against the Samson United team led by Ted Mulvaney.   The end result in this game was Samson United 16 to Boots n All 17.

With two weeks to go its getting exciting between the teams.  Week ten is semi finals for the Conference and Intermediate leagues, while the other leagues, Champions, Premier and Championship have anther week of competitions with all the finals on Friday 23rd of July.
