Charitable Trust Walk: Rugby World Cup 2011

It may seem a little early to start planning for the 2011 Rugby World Cup but if you want to make it the best trip ever and raise funds for seriously injured players then now is the time. Join us on the IRFU Chartiable Trust Walk at the 2011 Rugby World Cup, raise funds and go to the RWC final!

Join us for a 100K Walk in New Zealand taking in Wellington, Queenstown, Bay of Islands and Auckland in October 2011.

The trip includes a chance to meet the Ireland squad at the World Cup and match tickets to the two quarter-finals in Wellington, the two semi-finals, the third-fourth place play-off and the Rugby World Cup final itself.

The package includes flights, 4-Star Accomodation and match tickets and will help raise essential funds for seriously injured players.

The IRFU Charitable Trust supports over 30 players who have suffered a severe spinal injury and need 24 hour care. The Trust maintains regular contact with each injured player and their families.

They also help with locomotory expenses, specialised equipment (such as lifting equipment, beds, or wheelchairs), home alterations, medical expenses, nursing and caring costs, motor vehicles, etc.

This is not an exhaustive list but it gives an indication of the kind of help provided by the Trust. Over the past few years, the average payment for assistance has amounted to about €;300,000 per annum.

This is the sixth walk organised by the Charitable Trust with previous walks at the 2007 Rugby World Cup and more recently for the 2009 Lions tour to South Africa.
