Women’s Cup Finals To Pack Out Dubarry Park

The Women’s All Ireland Cup Finals take place at Dubarry Park this Saturday and it is set to be a busy day in Athlone with eight teams travelling to contest the various finals.

This Saturday is the last day of the regular season in the AIB League and Buccaneers are at home to Young Munster in a game that is vital to both clubs. Dubarry Park should be pretty busy so.

If that is not enough to bring you down to Dubarry Park, then there is also the prospect of four finals in the Women’s All-Ireland Cup competition at stake.

The Ireland Women’s squad finished third in the the recent RBS Women’s 6 Nations Championship and several of the star Irish players will be action for their clubs this weekend.

First up is the Shield final which sees Thurles facing off against Young Munster. With the Cookies senior team in action as well, we can expect some fairly vocal support for their women’s side in this game.

The Bowl final sees two Munster sides chasing silverware but they are not from Cork or Limerick – Nenagh and Tralee will be contesting this game.

In the Plate final, Cooke from Ulster will face Clonmel in an interprovincial tussle to settle the score.

Finally, the Cup final sees two of the strongest Women’s clubs going head-to-head as UL Bohs clash with Blackrock. This promises to be an absolutley cracking game as the two teams finished first and second in Division 1 of the Women’s All-Ireland League.

UL Bohs won all eight games and scored a total of 142 points. Blackrock did better on the points front, racking up an impressive 248 points in eight games but they did lose one game – to UL Bohs.
