IRFU Joins iPhone Revolution

The Irish Rugby Football Union has teamed up with PUBLISH-i to give rugby supporters access to the official match day programme for the final game of the GUINNESS Series against South Africa on their iPhone.

The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) today launched its first iPhone application (app) which allows supporters with either an iPhone or iPod Touch to download and read the official match programme for this Saturday’s Ireland v South Africa match.

The application is being launched in partnership with PUBLISH-i, an Irish company specialising in automated smart-phone publishing.

Padraig Power, Commercial & Marketing Director of the IRFU, stated that ‘mobile phone applications are a logical next step in our digital strategy, and PUBLISH-i has delivered a solution which allows us to extend our traditional match programme to a much wider audience.’

He added: “By using innovative platforms such as this, we can build better connections with our supporters and keep them continuously informed with news and information about Irish rugby, both at a local and international level.”

Philip Lynch, Joint CEO of PUBLISH-i, said: “We are delighted to be able to support the Irish rugby team and the IRFU in this venture and bring this traditionally time-sensitive publication to a much wider audience.

“By using our automated smart-phone publishing technology, we’re helping the IRFU to seamlessly deliver an official match programme to supporters beyond the boundaries of the stadium, helping them to connect with thousands of supporters in Ireland and abroad.”

The Ireland v South Africa match programme is now on sale now in the App store and can be found by searching for “IRFU” or “MatchApp”. http://linktoapp.com/Match+App
