AIB League Division One club Buccaneers have announced Neal Culliton as their new head coach for the forthcoming season, with former Connacht back rower Colm Rigney also part of the new coaching set-up at Dubarry Park.

A player for some 13 years with Wanderers and latterly CYM where he also coached, Neal Culliton is steeped in rugby tradition, his father Gerry winning many Ireland caps in the 1960s.

Neal has recently coached for two seasons each at Mullingar and Longford and has also coached Cistercian College, Roscrea.

It is anticipated that Colm Rigney, the recently-retired Connacht number 8, and Leighton Christopher will assist Culliton in the new Buccaneers set-up.

Culliton takes up the role jointly held by Tony Dolan and Jude Lennon who steered Buccs to the AIB League Division Two title and retained their Division One status last season.

The midlands club have acknowledged the duo’s immense contributions to date and have wished them continued success in their future coaching assignments.

Pre-season training for the Buccaneers senior squad starts this week, with Culliton and company eager to set out their stall for the new campaign in Division One Section B.
