Added Excitement As Cup Tours Leinster Camps

There were a few special guests at the Leinster Rugby Summer Camp at Old Belvedere RFC on Tuesday morning, as Leinster’s Leo Cullen and Girvan Dempsey thrilled the kids by bringing the Heineken Cup trophy with them.

The 2009 Leinster Rugby Summer Camps are sponsored by Centra and kicked off in recent weeks, with youngsters learning to play the ‘Leinster way.’

This summer the Leinster Branch will be in a total of 21 venues throughout the whole province, stretching from Longford down to Wexford.

Camp places are available for boys and girls from 6 to 12 years of age. To facilitate the appropriate attention, participants will be divided by their age in to six groups.

Central to the camps is the introduction to the game of rugby in a safe and controlled manner. The camps will be managed and run by fully accredited IRFU coaches.

Children who participate in the camps will get the chance to make new friends, meet Leinster players, learn more about rugby values such as team work, commitment and integrity, and also become more aware of the importance of physical fitness.

All this while learning to develop the basic rugby skills of passing, tackling (in a controlled environment), evasion and kicking.

Most of all the Leinster camps guarantee lots of fun!

Each camp takes place over one week (Monday through to Friday inclusive) between 9.30am and 1.30pm. Fees are the same as last summer, €;99 per child.

The family discount offer is €;99 for the first child and €;90 per sister/brother thereafter. Each participant will receive a special rugby pack (bag, t-shirt, shorts, socks, ball, and certificate of attendance).

As was witnessed today at Old Belvedere, the Heineken Cup trophy will be visiting every Leinster camp this summer and there will be an opportunity for all kids attending to capture their moment with European club rugby’s premier piece of silverware.
