Busy Weekend In The AIB League

Busy Weekend In The AIB League

With the AIB Cup final just around the corner, there is still a full programme of AIB League matches to consider this weekend. Defending Division One champions Cork Constitution will have to forget about their cup final date as they travel to second-placed Blackrock College this weekend.

The season is closing in fast and it is still wide open for the top four and indeed the top eight in Division One of the AIB League.

Defending champions Cork Constitution face a tough trip to Stradbrook to face second-placed Blackrock with Garryowen, Dolphin and Shannon breathing down their necks!

In the middle of the table the scrap for a coveted top eight finish to secure a place in Division 1A next season continues.

Belvo, ‘Wegians and Ballymena will all be hoping to capitalise on any potential slip-ups by UL Bohs or St. Mary’s College.

In Division Two, the top two sides, UCC and Lansdowne, are away to Greystones and Highfield respectively while fifth-placed Bruff will be hoping to put one over on third-placed Ballynhinch, who may have one eye on the AIB Cup final the following weekend.

Division Three leaders Corinthians are away to bottom-of-the-table Waterpark and will be hoping consolidate their lead over the likes of Old Wesley and Midleton.

After the drama of the Grand Slam last weekend, it is a chance to get out and see the stars of tomorrow and the stalwarts of the game in top class club action.
