Magners League: Round 7 Preview

Magners League: Round 7 Preview

The Magners League is back this weekend with a full programme of action – four games taking place on Friday night and one on Saturday. The big game of the weekend, from an Irish perspective, is the clash between Ulster and Connacht at Ravenhill.

The current Magners League leaders, Munster, are in action on Friday and will be the first side to play the Scarlets in the Magners League at Parc y Scarlets.

The province will be looking to spoil the Scarlets’ celebrations in their new home however, as they will be hoping to continue a two-year winning run against the Welsh region.

The second-placed Ospreys are away from home on Friday night, travelling to Edinburgh and looking for an away Scottish double after beating Glasgow Warriors in September.

The crucial game, from an Irish perspective, is the Friday clash of third-from-bottom Ulster and 10th-placed Connacht at Ravenhill.

The Ulstermen will be looking to the record books for inspiration as the westerners have not won in Belfast for 48 years.

Friday’s fourth game is Glasgow Warriors versus Cardiff Blues – Glasgow will be aiming to keep pace with the top two, while the Blues will be looking to keep an advantage over the fourth-placed Welsh region, the Newport Gwent Dragons.

The Dragons themselves are in action on Saturday night when they visit a Leinster side hoping for a return to winning ways after a run of three league defeats.
