Garryowen In Glory

Garryowen In Glory

2006/07 was an incredible season for Garryowen. AIB League Division One champions, AIB Cup champions, Munster Senior Cup and Munster Junior Cup winners and representing Ireland at the international amateur tournament in France. Club PRO Christopher Barry has marked the season with a commemorative publication.

Our hearts so stout have brought us fame, for soon ’tis known from whence we came. Where e’er we go they dread the name, of Garryowen in Glory.”

That was certainly the case in the 2006/07 season as the Limerick club captured cups and titles aplenty and represented Ireland in France at the International amateur club tournament in Languedoc Roussillon as part of the Rugby World Cup celebrations.

Garryowen’s commemorative magazine-style publication was painstakingly produced by club PRO Christopher Barry. The publication commemorates the red letter season with a wonderful gallery of images from the various finals and tours as well as featuring a host of interesting club facts and interviews with key club members.

The Dooradoyle committment to rugby at all levels is not forgotten as there is a look at the Garryowen Academy and do not forget that they added the North Munster Under-16 Cup and North Munster Under-13 League to the senior titles garnered last season.

The achievements of the club are also put into context by a list of other sporting and community dates and a look at the club in the community.

This publication is a must for any Garryowen member or fan, but it also has a wider appeal demonstrating that the club is still at the heart of the community and part of the bedrock of Irish rugby.
