Last weekend was a massive one in the AIB League with promotion, play-off and relegation issues being ironed out in Division Two and Three and there was also plenty of drama-filled action in the top flight.

Despite the bad weather, club photographers were out in force at venues all around the country for a tense and exciting final day’s action in Division Two and Three.

Buccaneers and Young Munster have won promotion back to Division One, claiming home draws in the Division Two semi-finals in the process. UCC and Belfast Harlequins are the other teams that will feature in the Division Two play-offs.

Meanwhile, Suttonians and Barnhall have been relegated from Division Two and City of Derry are the side to drop automatically from Division Three.

Waterpark are facing a play-off against the runners-up in the junior clubs’ round robin competition, in order to avoid the drop.

The teams to go up from Division Three to Division Two next season are Bruff and Instonians, while Banbridge and Queen’s University have also won through to the Division Three semi-finals.

In Division One, there is still one full round of matches to play. In our photographed matches, Terenure College confirmed their top flight status for another year with a nail-biting 14-12 home win over Ballymena.

Lansdowne and Dungannon, two teams in relegation trouble, clashed at the RDS with the hosts claiming what could prove to be a very important 6-0 victory.
