Munster Name Strong Squad For Ulster Game

Munster have announced a 26-man squad for their Magners League derby tie Ulster at Musgrave Park on Saturday (kick-off 7.30pm), and it includes a number of Ireland’s Six Nations squad members.

Ronan O’Gara, Ireland’s recent stand-in captain, Peter Stringer, Marcus Horan, Tony Buckley, John Hayes, Donncha O’Callaghan, Paul O’Connell and Mick O’Driscoll have all been included by Munster coach Declan Kidney for the Interprovincial encounter.

All eight players saw action for Ireland in last weekend’s Six Nations defeat to England at Twickenham.

Also included in Munster’s extended panel is hooker Jerry Flannery who is returning to Munster senior action for the first time since the Heineken Cup game against Wasps.

Flannery did have a run-out with the Munster ‘A’ side against Leinster ‘A’ last week and was particularly prominent when Munster had their final run-out ahead of Saturday’s game, at training in Garryowen on Thursday.

Back rower Denis Leamy is currently nursing a shoulder injury, which he sustained against England, and he misses out this weekend.

Fans should note that Saturday’s game is a sell-out at Musgrave Park and there will be no tickets available for purchase on the night or beforehand.
