Young Exiles Represent Ireland Under-18s

The annual FIRA-AER Under-18 European Championship is currently being held in Treviso and the Exiles have a representation of six players in the Ireland squad – all of whom were in the starting line-up for the first game against Russia.

The Ireland Under-18 Club side got their tournament off to a great start with a comprehensive 53-0 win over Russia on Sunday. They will now face the England U-18s in the semi-finals.

The young Exiles who feature in the Ireland U-18 squad are right winger Tchad Collins-Francois (Truro College), out-half Callum McKie (Brentwood & Campion), hooker Declan Farrell (Leeds Carnegie & QEGS Wakefield), tighthead prop Kieran Brookes (Fylde & Kirkham GS), openside flanker James Stephenson (London Irish & St. Benedict’s), and number 8 Josh Bennett (Gloucester).

For the second year running, we have an ‘unlucky Exile’. Lock/number 8 Charlie Armstrong (Truro College), having been a member of last year’s successful Ireland side that finished as runners-up, was selected to go this year but misses out due to a recent injury.
