Magners League: Round 8 Preview

Magners League: Round 8 Preview

There are three Round 8 games in the Magners League this weekend – with much attention sure to be focused on the clash between Ireland’s top two provinces, Munster and Leinster, at Musgrave Park on Friday night.

With the Welsh Regions not in action due to their participation in the EDF Energy Cup, a win for either Munster or Leinster would take them into first place in the league table. With both sides having lost only one of their last five meetings it is sure to be a compelling encounter in Cork – the game will be live on Setanta Sports.

There are two other games on Friday night – with Edinburgh’s visit to Ulster also broadcast by Setanta. Both teams were buoyed by much-needed victories last weekend, and Edinburgh, who have already beaten Ulster at Murrayfield this season, will be looking for their first ever double over the province when they travel to Ravenhill.

The third game of the weekend is at the Sportsground in Galway where Connacht face Glasgow Warriors. Defeat to Ulster last Friday leaves the men from the west at the foot of the table, while, in contrast, Glasgow are 11 points better off in fifth place and will be looking for their fourth straight victory over Connacht.

Note: The Round 8 fixtures involving Welsh teams will be played over the New Year
