Final Stages of IRFU Tag Rugby ’07 Approaching
As we approach the final stages in various leagues at Galway Corinthians, Old Belvedere and Newforge, here is how the final placings in these leagues are decided….
Galway Corinthians
There are three more weeks to go after tonight’s Tag. These weeks will entail a Quarter Final Stage, a Semi-Final Stage and a Finals Stage.
Schedule for games as follows:
12th July – Quarter Finals
QF 1 -> 1st placed team plays 8th placed team
QF 2 -> 2nd placed team plays 7th placed team
QF 3 -> 3rd placed team plays 6th placed team
QF 4 -> 4th placed team plays 5th placed team
19th July – Semi-Finals
SF1 -> Winner QF 2 v Winner QF 3
SF2 -> Winner QF 1 v Winner QF 4
SF3 -> Loser QF 2 v Loser QF 3
SF4 -> Loser QF 1 v Loser QF 4
26th July – Finals
Cup Finals
Loser SF3 v Loser SF4 -> [Decides 7th and 8th place in League]
Winner SF3 vs Winner SF4 -> [Decides 5th and 6th place in League]
Loser SF1 v Loser SF2 -> [Decides 3rd and 4th place in League]
Winner SF1 v Winner SF2 -> [Decides 1st place / Runner Up in League]
In Leagues which comprise of more than one division, the 8 teams to contest the last 3 weeks will be as follows:
Mixed Social B

Split into two.
The top four teams from both Group 1 and Group 2 will form a single group where they contest the CUP. .
The lower four teams from those Groups will form a single group and contest the PLATE for that grade.
Teams in both CUP and PLATE contests will be ranked 1st through to 8th based on their points gained from wins during the previous seven weeks of tag and then point difference between points for and against if required.
Mixed Social C

As Social B but with FOUR groups instead of two, due to there being 32 teams involved.
The four groups will be as follows:
CUP – Top 2 from Groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Mixed Social C
PLATE – 3rd and 4th placed teams from Groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Mixed Social C
BOWL – 5th and 6th placed teams from Groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Mixed Social C
SPOON – 7th and 8th placed teams from Groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Mixed Social C
Mixed Social D

As Social B with TWO groups but as follows:
CUP – Top 4 from Groups 1 and 2
PLATE – Teams ranked 5th 6th and 7th from Groups 1 and 2

Old Belvedere
The eight team leagues at Old Belvedere will have finals run using the same formula as the Mixed Social A at Galway Corinthians.
12th July – Quarter Finals
QF 1 -> 1st placed team plays 8th placed team
QF 2 -> 2nd placed team plays 7th placed team
QF 3 -> 3rd placed team plays 6th placed team
QF 4 -> 4th placed team plays 5th placed team
19th July – Semi-Finals
SF1 -> Winner QF 2 v Winner QF 3
SF2 -> Winner QF 1 v Winner QF 4
SF3 -> Loser QF 2 v Loser QF 3
SF4 -> Loser QF 1 v Loser QF 4
26th July – Finals
Cup Finals
Loser SF3 v Loser SF4 -> [Decides 7th and 8th place in League]
Winner SF3 vs Winner SF4 -> [Decides 5th and 6th place in League]

Six team leagues finals will be announced as they approach the end of their scheduled games to be played.

Newforge
Newforge will have two weeks of finals games. These games shall be scheduled as follows:
In any one league at Newforge (they are all eight team leagues), the tables at end of week 7 will determine Placings for the next stage:
Semi Final:
SF1 – 1st Placed team v 4th Placed team
SF2 – 2nd Placed team v 3rd Placed team
SF3 – 5th Placed team v 8th Placed team
SF4 – 6th Placed team v 7th Placed team
Final:
Loser SF3 v Loser SF4 -> [Decides 7th and 8th place in League]
Winner SF3 vs Winner SF4 -> [Decides 5th and 6th place in League]
