AIB League: Division Two Round-Up

A final day win for Young Munster at Midleton (35-21) was enough to book the Cookies’ place in the Division Two semi-finals on April 21. Meanwhile, a 23-23 draw with Old Crescent saw Clonakilty, last year’s Division Three champions, remain in third place and set up an intriguing play-off clash with Greystones, the Division Three champions from 2005.

County Carlow did everything they could to try and avoid being relegated to Division Three but not even a bonus point 31-5 win over Thomond on the final day was enough to see them climb out of the bottom two.

Carlow finished on 23 points, but Malone’s 19-17 defeat away to ‘Belvo, with that added losing bonus point, was enough to push the Belfast club onto 24 points and keep them in Division Two for 2007/08.
