Wallabies coach John Connolly has announced his intention to bring a 37 man sqaud on tour in November. The Australians will bring a 37 man squad to Europe to take on Italy, Scotland, Wales and Ireland in November.
Connolly is hoping Stephen Larkham will be among his tourists after Australia’s chief playmaker declared he would like to make the month-long trip.
Connolly earlier this week said he would consider resting up to half a dozen senior players, mostly backs, in a bid to freshen them up ahead of the 2007 World Cup in France starting 10 months later.
“A squad of 37 will go away and, at this stage, I would be very surprised if many were rested,” he said today.
“Larkham will go on the tour, I hope. He may not play every Test match but we know what a vital cog of the team he is.”
In addition to the four Tests, Australia will play four mid-week matches and Connolly is planning to use the tour to gain a firm gauge of just which players will make the final 30-man World Cup squad.
