BRIAN O’DRISCOLL: QUOTES
“I think it’s very disappointing that we fought for so long, but we gave away some silly points in the last quarter.
“All credit to the All Blacks. They showed their resolve and skill and passion in the last 20 (minutes) to pull through for the victory.
“It was a big thing this week to believe that we could do it. We knew if we put in a good performance we’re capable of beating any side in the world, including the All Blacks.
“(But) we made some unforced errors, turned over some sloppy ball, missed some first up tackles and you can’t do that. You get punished when you play against New Zealand like that.”
“I think they did show their class when it was really put up to them. At the same time we really stopped playing the rugby and let them come back at us. We put together a 60 to 62-minute performance, but against the All Blacks that’s not good enough. You’ve got to play for the full 80.
“You could have a 30-point lead with 15 minutes to go against the All Blacks, but if you let up they will score 35 points. It’s just about putting the whole package together.”
“The All Blacks showed that when it’s not all going right for them, they can still pull an iron out of the fire and that’s the sign of a good side.
“We pushed them close this week and we will go close next week in Auckland.”
