Tickets Available For Churchill Cup

Tickets are still available for the Ireland ‘A’ team’s two Barclays Churchill Cup pool stage matches against the USA and New Zealand Maori next month.

Michael Bradley’s side get their Churchill Cup campaign up and running against the US Eagles on Saturday week (June 3). The Pool B clash, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports (2.00pm local time, 10.00pm Irish time), takes place at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The 6,800-capacity venue was named after former Santa Clara American football coach Lawrence T. ‘Buck’ Shaw. Opened in 1962, the stadium is currently home to the Bronco soccer team and was also used by the Brazilian squad in the lead up to their triumph at the 1994 World Cup.

After the completion of the pool stages, all teams will transfer to the Canadian city of Edmonton for the tournament’s finals day, which will be held at the Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday, June 17. Tickets for the June 17 decider are available on the Canadian Ticketmaster website – www.ticketmaster.ca

Previous winners of the tournament include England (2003, 2005) and the New Zealand Maori (2004). The English beat Argentina 45-16 in last year’s final in Edmonton.

Tickets for the Ireland ‘A’ v USA clash should be available on the day – ticket booths will be open to the north side of Buck Shaw an hour before kick-off. But if you want to guarantee your seat(s) for the opener and/or the mouth-watering Ireland ‘A’ v New Zealand Maori fixture (same venue, kick-off 2.00pm, Saturday, June 10), you can call 00 1 408 554 4660.
