U21s to be televised at IRB World Championship

The Ireland U21 game against France will be one of seven games televised from the IRB U21 World Championship in France in June.

The IRB has today announced details of the media and broadcast schedules for the U21 World Championship, which takes place in the Auvergne region of France from the ninth to the twenty fifth of June.

Ireland’s game against France on the 9th of June will be the first of seven televised games, which include semi finals and final and the games between England and New Zealand and South Africa and France. The full list of broadcasters will be released soon by the IRB.

Ireland, in pool A with South Africa and Wales, ranked 9th overall will play team from pool D – France who are ranked 4th, Argentina (ranked 5th) and Georgia (ranked 12th).

Simom Jelowitz, IRB Tournament Director said: “Age grade rugby is a key platform for the identification and development of up and coming talent. A large proportion of players have graduated from IRB age grade tournaments, such as the Under 21 World Championship, to reach the highest levels of international rugby. The standard of competition at the Championship is increasing year on year, and some of the players who will take the field in Auvergne could well find themselves back in France in 18 months time competing at Rugby World Cup 2007
