SAMOA have the worst discipline of the teams with SIX YELLOW CARDS. Ireland’s sole sin-binning was for Belvedere College prop Cian Healy v Argentina (April 17).

– In February, Ireland played WALES – their 5TH-6TH PLACE PLAY-OFF opponents on Friday – at Blackrock College RFC. The young Dragons scored a 31-6 win to lift the Triple Crown. Ireland’s scorer was UCD’s Ian Keatley, who filled in at out-half for Brian Collins and kicked two first half penalties at Stradbrook.
Justin Burnell’s Welsh side went on to claim an U-19 Grand Slam with victories over Italy (32-18) and France (32-12), both at Aberavon.
– New Zealand’s TIMOTHY BATEMAN will be appearing in his SECOND SUCCESSIVE IRB Under-19 World Championship FINAL, if selected against Australia on Friday. The 18-year-old out-half/centre played was in the number 13 shirt for last year’s decider which the Baby Blacks lost 20-15 to South Africa.
– The SHORTEST PLAYER in this year’s tournament is Samoan scrum half ALATASI TUPOU, who stands at just 5FT (152CM). St. Munchin’s hooker Gerard Slattery, Belvedere scrum half Paul O’Donohoe and Blackrock centre Aidan Wynne share the honour of being Ireland’s shortest players at 5ft 8in (172cm).
