The 21-year-old has really burst onto the scene – both in a provincial and international sense – this season. Trimble made his competitive debut for Ulster against Cardiff in September and has been ever-present for Mark McCall’s side since making his senior Test debut for Ireland against Australia in November.

A former pupil of Coleraine Institute, Trimble is currently studying Theology at the Bible College in Belfast. He is just one of a number of exciting backline talents to emerge in Ulster and Irish rugby circles in recent seasons and his rise is a credit to those who have nurtured him at Schools and underage levels.

Trimble has made 17 appearances for Ulster so far this season – scoring 4 tries in 11 games in the Celtic League, and 2 touchdowns in 6 Heineken Cup outings. Since first donning the green jersey against the Aussies, Trimble has added five more caps in the Test arena, culminating in last month’s Triple Crown win against England.

His three-try Test haul includes two against Romania and a second half effort against France, which saw him go under the posts from a pass from a player he very much looks up to – Irish captain Brian O’Driscoll.

Ulster, meanwhile, have also confirmed the signing of Tom Court, a tighthead prop from Australia, for next season.

Previously a top shot putter, the 24-year-old Court is joining the province on a two-year deal from Queensland. Irish-qualified, Court only took up rugby union three years ago whilst studying at the University of Queensland. He has since played for Queensland ‘A’, NPC outfit Manawatu and the Queensland Reds, earlier this season in the Super 14.
