RBS Six Nations – Williams Makes Two Changes

Scotland coach Matt Williams has made two changes to his side for the Calcutta Cup RBS Six Nations game against world champions England in Murrayfield on Saturday.

Scotland coach Matt Williams has made two changes to his side for the Calcutta Cup RBS Six Nations game against world champions England in Murrayfield on Saturday.

Left wing Simon Webster, a replacement in last Saturday’s 23-10
defeat to
Wales, pushes out Andrew Henderson to win his third cap while the
experienced
Jason White comes in at blindside flanker for Allister Hogg.
Henderson and Hogg are relegated to the bench.

White said he was delighted to have regained his place in the
starting XV
especially as after the retirement of Martin Leslie following the
World Cup he
was seen as being the automatic first choice in the position.
“I wasn’t surprised that I didn’t start because you can never
take it for
granted but I was disappointed,” said the 25-year-old, who will
win his 34th
cap on Saturday.

“Matt said that he saw my role as coming
off the bench
as an impact player but obviously I see myself as more than just
that,” added
White, who was a member of the Scottish side that stunned England in
the final
match of the 2000 tournament and deprived them of the Grand Slam.

White said he was looking forward to taking on two of his Sale
team-mates
in centre Jason Robinson – scorer of three tries in the 50-9 mauling
of Italy
last Sunday – and Chris Jones, who will make his first start after
scoring on
his debut last Sunday.

“Jason’s dangerous when he gets the ball, he’s got such good
feet and he’s
so strong,” White continued.

“Chris is also a very good player in the fact that he’s
unorthodox, he’s so
tall and so explosive and he brings something different to the
England side.
It will be good fun on Saturday but for 80 minutes we won’t
be friends.”

Scotland’s Australian-born fullback Ben Hinshelwood said he
believed that
the Scots would put up a better performance than in the 23-10 defeat
by Wales
last Saturday.
“England are the best team in the world so it is great to be
playing them
on our home turf,” said Hinshelwood, whose father Sandy played
21 times for
Scotland before emigrating to Australia.

“There’s completely new systems and processes that Matt has
implemented
that will work but it’s up to us to make sure we do them on the pitch.

“Unfortunately for the first half-hour or 40 minutes we
didn’t really
settle into them last week.
But we’ve worked on them this week and each game will be a
step up from
the last game and we’re looking for an improved performance,”
added
Hinshelwood, who wins his 11th cap on Saturday.
