‘AGAINST THE HEAD’ RETURNS FOR A SECOND SEASON

For a second year running Irish rugby fans will have reason to celebrate Monday night as ‘Against the Head’, RTE’s weekly rugby magazine programme, returns to our screens

For a second year running Irish rugby fans will have reason to celebrate Monday night as
‘Against the Head’, RTE’s weekly rugby magazine programme, returns to our screens.

Sponsored exclusively by AIB, and presented by well-known rugby
commentator, Ryle Nugent, ‘Against the Head’ will start its 13-week
schedule on Monday 12th January on Network 2 at 7.30pm.

‘Against the Head’ will feature a 30-minute round up of the latest
action,
news and analysis from the AIB League, Heineken Cup and the Six
Nations
Championship. A panel consisting of former rugby players, such as
Ciaran
Fitzgerald
and Brent Pope, will contribute to the programme on a
weekly
basis, as will well-known rugby journalists, Brendan Fanning and Peter
O’Reilly
who will bring the latest news and views to the rugby
supporting
public.

In addition, interviews and profiles of top players, coaches
and
referees will feature prominently. The programme will also include an
exciting mix of local club features and news from the AIB League and
schools rugby.

Speaking about the programme, Mr Jim Kelly, AIB Sponsorship Manager, said,

the current high profile of rugby following the World Cup, I believe
that
rugby supporters will welcome ‘Against the Head’, even more so than
it’s
inaugural series screened last year. Rugby is continuing to grow in
popularity across the length and breadth of the country, this
programme
will provide rugby supporters with all the action, right up from the
grass
roots of the AIB League up to the international squad as it prepares
for
the 2004 Six Nations. AIB’s sponsorship of ‘Against the Head’ is
further
evidence of our commitment to rugby, which has been demonstrated by
continued support of Irish club rugby.”
