7th National Forum – Building Pathways in Irish Sport.

If you are involved in Sport in Ireland, the 7th National Forum is the sporting event of 2003. This years forum focusses on Long-term Player/Athlete Development and will include some keynote addresses

If you are involved in Sport in Ireland, the 7th National Forum is the
sporting event of 2003.

This years forum is based on the Pathway Theme, (Long-term Player/Athlete Development)
and will include keynote addresses from three world class experts: Dr. Istvan
Balyi, Prof. Craig Sharp, and Prof. Dave Collins. In addition, leading Irish
practitioners and administrators will provide practical advice for coaches and
practitioners working at all stages of the player/athlete pathway in this country.

Overall Forum Aims:

1. To introduce delegates to the issue of Long Term Player/Athlete Development
and to receive feedback on the proposed Irish Model.

2. To provide delegates with practical steps, guidelines, and activities
relevant to the stage of the pathway at which they coach, participate, or administrate.

3. To motivate and inspire delegates to continue to work at their level
of the pathway.

4. To provide delegates with the opportunity to network with each other.

All workshops will be practical in nature and will be applicable to all sports.

The Director of IRFU Rugby Development, Eddie Wigglesworth, recommends that
all IRFU club secretaries and administrators ensure that the relevant personnel
attend the 7th National Forum. In particular the Saturday programme on the 6th
September, as it deals with many of the developmental and structural issues
faced by clubs at the sub 19 age levels.
