As the Special Oympians take their leave of this country today, as the Irish contestants return to their homes, we extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of the 7,000 competitors for making these World Games so memorable.

And to Team Ireland our congratulations on their performance this past week and the way they represented their country with pride, passion, good humour and a level of sportsmanship that others sportspeople might do very well to copy.
