Good Wins for Leinster and Munster

Leinster scored a seven-try 51-34 win over Wasps in London yesterday and later in the evening Munster recorded a six-try 36-19 victory over Scottish Borders in Limerick.

Both games were noticeable for the successful return of injured players to their provincial sides. In London, Emmet Byrne and Nathan Spooner came through the Wasps game unscathed, Spooner kicking five conversions while Paul O’Connell, Anthony Horgan, Simon Kerr and Dominic Crotty all reported fit and well following Munster’s game with the Scottish side.

There were two tries apiece for Leinster from Gordon D’Arcy and Ben Willis, with Shane Jennings, Niall Treston and John McWeeney adding their names to the try list.

The kick-off in Thomond Park was delayed for an hour to accomodate the late arrival of the Gary Armstrong led Borders side.
Niall O’Donovan was on hand to watch international squad hopefuls, Paul O’Connell and Anthony Horgan play a prominent role in Munster’s victory. Horgan looked particularly sharp as he ran in two tries while O’Connell impressed out of touch and in general play. Mossie Lawlor helped himself to a brace of tries with Eddie Halvey and the impressive Simon Kerr scoring the others.
