Ireland kicked off their representative season with a well-deserved victory in Spain last Saturday in San Sebastian
The selected Presidents Squad played against the Euskarians club who are representatives of the Basque Country in Northern Spain near the French border.

The new look side showed sweeping changes from that selected for the final game in the World Cup last year with the management keen to test new players at this level ahead of the first 6-Nations game against Scotland in February.

Munster fullback Sarah-Jane Belton grabbed her first points of the International season with two early penalties for a lead that the Irish would not relinquish for the remainder of the game.
The visitors solid defensive efforts were enough to keep the Spanish at bay for the most part with converted centre Rachel Boyd, who lined out at wing forward, and young UL-Bohs scrum half Louise Beamish particularly impressive for the girls in green.

Belton extended the early lead with a try and the home side replied with a touch down of their own to leave the score 11-8 with the clock winding down.

Ireland were to have the last say however with substitute Rachel Reid crossing and Belton adding the spoils to round off a convincing 18-8 victory for the traveling side.

Ireland will hope to make it two wins out of two next weekend when they travel to Chester for their final warm-up against a British Police selection.
