Murphy Inspires Leicester Victory

Irish International Geordan Murphy played a huge part in Leicester’s 24-12 win over Beziers at the Stade de la Mediterranee yesterday. Murphy scored three penalties and a conversion and it was his break in the 61st minute that set up the try for Ollie Smith. Then in the 76th minute, the Naas born full-back got on the end of an Austin Healey chip ahead and his pass inside to Leon Lloyd ended in the clinching try.

Further good news for Leinster was the result from St Helens in Wales where Swansea caused an opset with their 26-19 win over Bristol Shoguns.

In Kingsholm, Marcel Garvey scored two tries as Gloucester maintained 100% record with an impressive 33-16 win over Perpignan and in Franklin’s Gardens, Northampton accounted for Cardiff with a three-try 25-11 victory.

Perhaps the shock of the weekend came in Italy where Neath, leading comfortably at one stage, ended up losing to Amatori & Calvisano on 38-29 final scoreline.
