Ulster’s hopes of going through to the semi-final of the Celtic League were boosted by the return of Andy Ward to their squad for the clash with Glasgow in Hughenden on Saturday. Ward is included in the list of replacements and that inclusion alone will provide a huge morale uplift to the province. He played for Ballynahinch last week-end and although seriously short of match fitness he can be expected to make an apperance at some stage during the course of the game. Gary Longwell will miss the game after sustaining that injury in the game against Argentina and in his absence Jeremy Davidson will partner Mark Blair in the second-row.

Meanwhile, Glasgow lock Jason Whitewill miss this game and the two December European Cup games against Bourgoin.
White was concussed during the first half of Scotland’s Murrayfield match against Fiji on Sunday and consequently must stand-down for the mandatory three weeks’ rest. That leaves Glasgow with just two recognised locks – Nathan Ross and Andy Hall – following Steve Griffiths’s enforced retirement from rugby because of injury.
