Tag Test Series v Australia At The End Of The Summer

The IRFU and the Irish Tag Rugby Association are delighted to announce that GUINNESS is the proud sponsor of Tag Rugby Summer League 2002.

The popularity of tag rugby has grown from 36 adult teams to 192 teams in three years! Already all of the Dublin venues are booked out with 132 adult teams registered! There are still places available in the Cork venue Highfield RFC, Limerick venue Garryowen FC and Ulster venue Lisburn RFC.

At the end of the summer there will be three Australian Oztag teams touring Ireland to play in a three match Tag Test Series in August. It is planned to have the first test as a curtain-raiser to one of Ireland’s World Cup qualifying matches.

There are two leagues running during June and July this summer. The Men’s Max’ League is for under 20’s, Junior and Senior rugby players, while the Mixed Social’ League is for men and women playing together on the
same team. This league has proven particularly popular with lots of corporate/business teams entering.

Tag Rugby is a 7-a-side non-contact sport, played by male and female
adults of all ages and mixed abilities. The idea is to pull a velcro’ tag from an attacking players belt that forces the player to pass the ball. Players do not have to have any previous rugby experience, as it is a non-contact game
that is fun, fast, and skilful and which compliments a range of other sports! At all our venues the post match craic’ is great with BBQ’s and entertainment in the clubhouse afterwards during the long summer evenings.

There are a limited amount of places available for interested teams in Cork,
Ulster and Limerick. If you have not already entered a team, do so now on our website www.tagrugby.com
or
Email info@tagrugby.com Telephone: Simon Bewley 086-2269048.

Closing date for team registration Thursday 30th May 2002.
