Belfast Harlequins will make an immediate return to AIB League One following their most recent success, a 52-3 drubbing of UL Bohemians on Saturday. With three games still to be played the Belfast club are now sixteen points clear of second placed Bohs who retain that position thanks to the shock defeat of Old Crescent at Rosbrien.

Harlequins entertained Bohemians on Saturday at their new HQ at Deramore Park and produced a near faultless display, running in eight tries to maintain their 100% record.

In defeat Bohs could have expected to lose their league position but as things turned out, Wanderers did them an enormous favour by winning their first game of the campaign when they defeated promotion chasing Old Crescent 13-10 at Rosbrien. Crescent held a 10-3 lead early in the second half and the visitors looked set for defeat number twelve. However they galvanised themselves and Owen Cobbe landed a penalty and then converted Mark Kavanagh’s 58th minute try to land the spoils and give themselves a lifeline with three games remaining.

Fourth placed Barnhall are just one point off Crescent and UL Bohemians and their 30-9 win in Musgrave Park plunged Doplhin into the relegation zone. Next up for Barnhall are champions elect Belfast Harlequins, a tie that will bring one of the biggest crowds of the season to Parsonstown in a fortnights time.
