A fleet of buses ferried hundreds of children to Thomond Park yesterday afternoon to watch the Irish squad be put through their paces by the new management of Eddie O’Sullivan (coach), Declan Kidney (assistant coach) and Niall O’Donovan (forwards coach).

The players received a rapturous reception from the young supporters as they arrived onto the pitch introduced by MC for the afternoon, Mr Tommy Cramer.

Mick Galwey received a tremendous welcome from over 100 schoolchildren who had made the journey from Castleisland and also among the attendance were pupils from Cahir Boys National School, St. Flannan’s College in Ennis, Ennis National School, CBS Doon, Gael Scoil Bhride, CBS Tipperary, St. Senan’s, St. Patrick’s Boys National School, Ard Scoil Ris, Galbally National School and Kilrush RFC.

The Irish squad were put through their paces before retiring indoors for a media conference, returning shortly after afterwards to sign autographs.
