The 2nd round of the Towns Cup was made at Ravenhill on Tuesday night last (Jan 8th). As usual, it threw up many intriguing affairs. The tie which attracted immediate
attention was the one between Ulster’s two AIL Division 1 clubs, Dungannon and Ballymena. The match will be played at Stevenson Park on the 26th January.

There are a number of Qualifying League 1 versus 2 ties. Holders of the Towns Cup and Qualifying 2 side, Magherafelt host Lisburn, who of course won Qualifying League One last season. Armagh (Q2) take on Dromore (Q1), Omagh (Q1) play Cavan (Q2), whilst Ballyclare (Q1) welcome Holywood (Q2).

The only all Qualifying 1 tie sees Coleraine recent winners of the Bank of
Ireland Floodlight Cup, host Enniskillen. Donaghadee entertain Larne in an all Qualifying 2 match. To complete the draw, Ballymoney (Q2) make the journey south to take on current 2nd XV League leaders Ballynahinch.

The draw in full: Donaghadee vs Larne, Magherafelt vs Lisburn, Armagh vs Dromore, Omagh vs Cavan, Ballynahinch vs Ballymoney, Ballyclare vs Holywood, Dungannon vs Ballymena, Coleraine vs Enniskillen.

The second round to be played on Saturday 26th January 2002, extra time to be played if required (10 minutes each way). Replays to be played on or before the 16th February 2002.

The 3rd round draw to be made at the Clubs Committee Meeting on the 19th February 2002.
