Llanelli centre Stephen Jones gave his side the lead with a well struck penalty and Ronan O'Gara equlised with an easier effort from in front of the posts. Mind you the Welsh were lucky that they conceded just three points at that stage because a penalty trylooked the likely option as Llanelli dived in to prevent a Munster.
The sides were tied at 3-3 at half time and Munster went in front when O'Gara landed his second penalty. They extended that lead when O'Gara added the poins to Mike Prendergast's opportunist try at the end of the thrid quarter and although Jones reduced the deficit with an another delightful strike, Munster ended the stonger to contain the best Llanelli could offer..
