When these teams met at Kingsholm in Gloucester two years ago, an Ireland side captained by Shane Horgan ran in five tries for a 39-14 victory prior to touring New Zealand and Australia.
This time around - and ahead of a similar tour - Munster's Ronan O'Gara gets the chance to captain his country in the familiar surroundings of Thomond Park.
We will have live text commentary direct from the home of Munster Rugby as Ireland, with the uncapped Fergus McFadden, Ed O'Donoghue, Dan Tuohy and Chris Henry on board, take on a Barbarians side that includes Munster's own Paul Warwick and Alan Quinlan, along with the retiring Malcolm O'Kelly.
This promises to be an exciting, action-packed encounter, so plug in the laptop or turn on the PC and enjoy a flavour of tonight's game live on IrishRugby.ie with thanks to O2, sponsors of MatchDay Live.
There will be full live text and score updates throughout the coverage as O'Gara and company look to chalk up a morale-boosting win ahead of the trip Down Under.
Starting at 7.15pm with our pre-match build-up (the game kicks off at 7.45pm), you can feel part of the action on IrishRugby.ie with MatchDay Live.
The match is also being broadcast live on RTE Two and RTE Radio 1 (LW252/DAB).
