IRFU Chief Executive Philip Browne has issued a statement following confirmation of Ronan O'Gara's decision to retire from playing professional rugby.

Last week was the first week back for the province's returning Churchill Cup-winning players, Denis Fogarty, Denis Hurley, Donnacha Ryan, Tony Buckley and Niall Ronan.
Recent signing Felix Jones, another member of the successful Ireland 'A' side, also commenced training with Munster last week in his respective Limerick base and he was present at his first Munster squad session on Friday.
Academy players were also present at Friday afternoon's session, and are still participating in the pre-season senior programme.
Their numbers have been boosted with the return of Ireland Under-20 players Conor Murray, Andrew Burke and Danny Barnes.
Peter O'Mahony, who captained the Irish U-20s for the recent IRB Junior World Championship, injured his AC joint during the tournament in Japan and is progressing well with his recovery.
Munster's returning Lions, Paul O'Connell, Ronan O'Gara, David Wallace, Keith Earls, Donncha O'Callaghan and John Hayes, will be back with the squad on August 3.
