Scotland's first Test outing in Aberdeen in 70 years was a successful saw interim boss Frank Hadden watched his troops run in five tries to the Baa-Baas' one.
Italian prop Andrea Lo Cicero's barge over try, with support from Munster and Ireland hooker Frankie Sheahan, on 25 minutes was the highlight of a disappointing display from the invitational side.
Captain and fly-half David Humphreys could do little as a series of errors saw the Barbarians' attacks falter.
Scotland centre Andrew Henderson broke through the tackle of Wales' Darren Morris and rounded Girvan Dempsey to open the scoring on 10 minutes.
Lo Cicero replied for the Baa-Baas on 25 minutes, and Humphreys' conversion levelled it before a Chris Paterson penalty left the Scots 10-7 in front at the break.
The home side gradually pressed on in the second half, and substitute Dougie Hall grabbed their second try on the hour-mark, from a Mike Blair set-up.
On 70 minutes, winger Sean Lamont added their third, before Edinburgh duo Allan Jacobsen (79) and Hugo Southwell (86) wrapped up Scotland's first win over the Baa-Baas in ten meetings.
An improved performance will be needed if they are to avoid a second defeat at the hands of England at Twickenham on Saturday (kick-off 3.00pm, live Sky Sports 3).
