Present were representatives of the Connacht Branch Committee and his own club, Castlebar RFC.

Martin Gallagher, Domestic Rugby Manager for Connacht, said: "Trevor Ardill has made a significant contribution to rugby in Castlebar. His energy and passion for Connacht and his club are there for all to see.

"I am delighted that the Connacht Branch are able to support his nomination."

Also there to present the award was Connacht Rugby President Steven Cunningham, who added: "It is my pleasure to Award this Volunteer Recognition award to Trevor.

"Trevor is a consummate clubman and has been involved in every level of the game over the years. We, the Connacht Branch, are delighted to present this award to him."
